lie at the hearts of a Cambridge education, international curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, international recognition and global community.

1. International Curriculum

TEACHING AND LEARNING

They provide professional development for teachers, to help them improve their performance and performance and practice throughout their careers. They encourage teaching practices that develop the ability of students to reflect on their learning.

Assessment

They design their assessments to be fair, valid, reliable and practicable. We assess what we know to be of value, deep subject knowledge, conceptual understanding, and higher level thinking skills. Their flexible assessment structure maximizes time for teaching and learning.

SMP Pelita Nusantara

CURRICULUM

The curriculum for Junior High School uses the revised 2013 Curriculum 206 which in the 2018-2019 Academic Year has fully been implemented from grade 7 to 9. Then, as one of the Cambridge International Schools, they applied learning material based on the Cambridge curriculum with the main subjects: Mathematics, Science, and English, using the Cambridge checkpoint assessment for the 3rd year. As one of the junior high schools included in the Pilot School for Character Strengthening Education (PPK), they used the character building formation with a license from 7 Habits - Steven Covey where their school has reached the stage of The Leader in school.

Mathematics Teaching Plan

The teaching plan for SMP Pelita Nusantara was in in line with the spiral curriculum.

It had a format consisting of the standard parts of a teaching plan: objectives, resources, activities, discussions, visual materials and teacher aid.

It differed from the teaching plan we have in the Philippines such that it looked more like a syllabus than our lesson plan in my country - because commonly in the Philippines, we have a bullet-formed lesson plan (not a columned one).

Also, since Cambridge Mathematics was only taught once a week, we only produced one lesson plan for the whole week, in the Philippines, we make lesson plans for the whole week - one per day/meeting
