Observation on Teacher

PLANNING FOR TEACHING

When you enter the office in the morning, you will notice that everyone is busy preparing for their classes.

There will always be the sound of the busy printer, teachers printing exam papers, lesson plans, and worksheets.

Teachers prepare well for their teacher; I have never seen them slakc off during work hours.

And this is how teachers should be!

PREPARING LESSONS AND MATERIALS

From planning to preparing of teaching plans and teaching aids, the teacher s of SMP don't seem to have a hard time.

I have seen a few of them teach, and I have not been disappointed, yet I became more motivated and inspired to teach when I saw how well-prepared they were with their lessons.

ACTUAL TEACHING

I have observed both Cambrdige Mathematics and National Matematika being taught in the upper and lower secondary level.

And I must say, the teachers always start the session by lightening up the mood and asking the students how they have been.

This is a common observation that I love the most! Because teachers don't just teach their students, they also get to touch the lives of their children like how the children touches theirs as well.

Measurement and Evaluation

After every chapter, my cooperating teacher will give the students an evaluation exam - usually, this will be parallel to the exam at the end of each chapter in the Cambridge Checkpoint module.

Overall

Impression

I am very much amused about this new combination - bahasa Indonesia and Cambridge Mathematics.

When I get back to my country, I will be proud to share my story, that I have witnessed a proof to the theory that goes: there is a relatively positive effect between the use of the mother language and a child's academic performance in math.

Together with a friendly atmosphere, I bet every student would love to explore the wonders of mathematics when they get to appreciate its beauty with the help of a good medium for instruction.
