"You'll never know until you do."
DAY 08: FEBRUARY 6, 2019
Yesterday was Chinese New Year!
And today, we got to observe grade 7 students for their National Matematika class – however, they had their examination for today so there wasn’t much to observe.

Today, I taught Cambridge Mathematics for grade 8 again. Today, Ms. Hani is present and was able to observe me.
She was very supportive of me, and told me not to get nervous – because I only had 5 students.

It’s always the thought that counts.

For me, it will always be the little things that make ordinary days special. My nervousness today was getting underneath the skin. I a little bit freaking out, and I don’t know why.
Maybe because it was the first time that my cooperating teacher will be observing me, and I didn’t want to disappoint her.

I think my class with the grade 8 students were okay. I knew I could still do better. There were a few interruptions due to the other students having their PE class outside of our classroom, sometimes my student’s attention are being drawn outside.
I may have to give more activities than in my lecture for today.

Ms. Hani talked to me about my way of teaching. She told me a few points:
-
Give inquiries about the term being defined
-
Give more activities
-
Don’t spend too much time on reviewing the past lesson
-
Wrap-up the lesson at the end of the period

Other than those, she loves everything else.
I love how she is very supportive and kind when she is suggesting ways to improve my teaching.
I will make sure to take note of these points so that I may apply them to my next lectures!
