Day 06: February 1, 2019

Today, the students had a field trip at Tangkuban Perahu, an active volcano in Bandung. It was a magnificent sight!

It was a short but sweet experience to go visit Tangkuban Perahu.

The SMP Pelita Nusantara bis sekola (school bus) picked us up infront of the Museum of National Education in UPI around 08.30 am

Then we headed straight to Tangkuban Perahu, we had breakfast there, and then went hiking and took photos along the way.

After we had lunch, the boys and the male teachers went to pray in the near-by mosque. Us girls had the opportunity to talk and bond.

It was an awesome day!

For me, we became much closer

to the students during this trip.

I believe that they learned a lot

about the ecosystem and

how it works as well.

I noticed, too, that the teachers have a very open relationship with the students. The students can joke around with them, I see them as a family, not just as members of a school community.

I see them as brothers and sisters, as well as parents and their children.

I hope the good student-teacher relationship here can be adapted with the student-teacher relationship in the Philippines as well.

Because I really think that the kind of friendship and closeness that exists between the teachers and the learners have a positive effect towards the achievements and academic performance of the learners.

This trip hit so many birds with one stone!

I hope the next SEA Teachers will get to experience the same as well.
